Connemara National Park is 3.5 km from Moyard village, one of six national parks in Ireland. The park is managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Connemara National Park features 2,000 hectares of mountains, bogs, heaths, grasslands and forests. The Visitor Centre is open year-round and there is no fee for entering the grounds, trails or viewing the exhibition. Kylemore Abbey, 8.9 km from Moyard village was built in 1868 as a private home for the family of Mitchell Henry, a wealthy doctor from London whose family was involved in textile manufacturing in Manchester, England. Inishbofin Island is situated off the coast of Connemara, to get to Inishbofin, you must take the ferry from Cleggan pier. Moyard is 5 miles from the pier at Cleggan and the ferry departs 3 times a day during peak season and 2 times a day during off-peak.
