The fertile farmland gives you rolling pastures and the beautiful River Slaney cuts through the middle of the county. Its namesake Wexford was one of the first Viking towns, and now hosts the International Wexford Opera Festival each October. It is an interesting, vibrant town of narrow streets, attractive shops and traditional pubs with a bohemian atmosphere. The lovely harbour towns and ports such as Kilmore Quay and Duncannon, offer great deep sea fishing and trips to the Saltee Islands and where pubs and restaurants serve locally caught sea food.
